Assessment Process

Clients may contact the nearest Impaired Driver Program office with any questions regarding cost, office hours, personal identification requirements, special needs consideration and the assessment duration and process.  The assessment is a process by which the individual's needs are identified and the most appropriate intervention strategy recommended.  Clients will be referred to at least one of the following:

  • One day Educational Workshop
  • Reducing the Risk (6 group sessions and 3 individual sessions)
  • Community Based AFM Treatment Services
  • Residential AFM Treatment Services

Arrangements can be made for those who cannot read or write, speak and/or understand English well. Individuals are asked to indicate this need at the time of their initial call so that any necessary arrangements can be made.

The purpose of the program is to help individuals avoid future impaired driving offences and to refer and facilitate access to services if necessary..

Clients in Winnipeg Region access IDP Services on the first floor at 1031 Portage Avenue.  In Western Region and Northern Regions IDP assessment services are available in Brandon, Thompson and Satellite Offices.
